TIPS for Winter Vehicle Safety Kits! Pack your vehicle with 1) Flashlight, cell phone charger, extra batteries, and jumper cables 2) blankets, gloves, boots, first aid kit, signal whistle, nonperishable food/snacks and water 3) Ice scraper/snowbrush, a prperly inflated spare tire, wheel wrench and jack, flares/warning triangle, kitty litter/sand for traction 4) If stranded, stay in your vehicle, call for help, and wait for assistance.
The SPRING burn permit is active for March 29, 2021 to May 31, 2021. Residents must call the Baca County Sheriff's Office 719/523-6677. Burning is for the clearing of leaves, grass, weeds or other plant material during daytime hours. Fires MUST BE attended at all times. Please prevent fire hazards and extinguish the fire and EMBERS prior to sunset. NO BURNING on RED FLAG WARNING DAYS.

- Cares Act Funding

The CARES ACT provides funding for Baca County Residents. The Baca County Public Health Agency has funding available to assist people with rent, mortgage and utility payments. This is a one-time use. To be eligible for benefits, you must be at or meet 200% of the federal poverty line as determined by the Federal Office of Management and Budget. Proof of income, identification and residency is required.

- Emergency Housing Assistance Program

To Qualify for the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP):
· You were unable to pay your rent, mortgage or mobile home lot rent because you experienced financial need due to COVID-19.
· Your household monthly income is at or below the maximum income listed here.
· You have not already received rental assistance that covered your rent or mortgage or mortgage forbearance.
· You complete the application for assistance and provide all of the needed documentation.
· Other qualifications and documentation required will be explained by the agency you work with to access the funds.
· Units that receive rental assistance through a voucher program are not eligible.
